Good ideas to occupy a grumpy two year old

And an even grumpier mum! I have a two year old with a bad cold. Getting through the worst of it but hasn't slept well for a week and hence neither have i. He has also been acting up as he is tired so has been challenging this last week. I also have the cold but a few days behind so hitting the worst bit. I personally want to just go back to bed but don't think that's going to cut it today. DS has already had about four tantrums, been hitting and throwing things to get a reaction. I think he is perhaps bored of doing quiet stuff so think i probably need something fun to occupy him that is relatively active but not going to kill me in the process as honestly feeling quite ill today.

Any ideas?

If there is a DP/DH get them to take over and go back to bed.

If not, water play. Big bucket or tub with lukewarm water in. Mixture of pots, spoons, seive, etc. Lay on the couch and watch him for three hours.

Have you got a big bowl, some flour, oil, scoops and things?

if so, make cloud dough. 1 part oil to 8 parts flour. In a bowl with scoops. Chuck him in the bath (without water) and let him play!

I know you are ill but a nice brisk walk to a park should wear him out, with some of the ideas in the other posts for when you get back.
