Constant poo leakage, very chubby baby

DS is very big (10kg at 5.5 months) with huge thighs and tummy, like a little sumo wrestler. Grin

He has allergies, so will poo many, many times a day after a reaction. I'm finding that his nappies are exploding up the back every time he poos and it's driving me crazy.

He was in size 4 Bambo but they were so low he had a builders bum at the back (poor chubby boy) so I've tried size 5 Naty, which are high enough but now they're too big and are leaking around the thigh.

Any suggestions? I'm having to scrub so many clothes each day.

Why aren't you preventing him from experiencing such bad allergic reactions he is pooing explosively several times a day? I don't think the nappies are the problem?

I agree that getting the allergies sorted would be good, but with regard to the nappies I found that disposables didn't work well for me at containing poo. We mostly use cloth, but when we do use disposables, I often use one of the outside covers from the cloth nappies over the top of the disposable. That worked well for us as the elastic tends to keep the poo in. You would only need a few. It might be a short term solution while the allergies get sorted.

I probably didn't explain that very well! His allergies ARE well controlled, I'm ebf with a strict dairy and soya free diet but I've had three occasions where others have contaminated my food. So, it's rare he has a reaction now.

However every poo has been leaking up his back (still ebf so it's mainly liquid). He goes around twice a day now the allergies are controlled compared to 15-20 times before.

It's the size and fit I'm struggling with, is there a brand or size anyone could recommend? I'd not considered washables but might be up for trying. Maybe.

My DDs nappies leaked frequently until I started using mamia from Aldi. We rarely have to do full changes of clothes now and she has always been a big baby.

Either switch totally to cloth nappies, or get some wraps such as these and just use them over disposables - I've never had to do a change of clothes since switching to cloth nappies as they contain things so much more effectively!

You need to try a different brand that is the right size for his weight

I also found the aldi ones better than any of the big brands for containing poonamis

I think nappies go 4, 4+, 5 so it might be worth trying a 4+ in a range of brands.
I think newborn nappies are the best for ebf poo, but there is no way he'll fit in those!!!
