I am starting potty training on Saturday coming! Anyone want to join me? Additionally does anyone have any step by step advise, have been lurking around here for a while, and after some heavy breathing exercises, have decided to go for it. I have got lots of cheap pants, Thomas pants, potty, special wipes, special hand wash (chosen by ds 2.7) cancelled all arrangements til Thursday and we have been reading a book about it nightly for a fortnight. Anyone out there wanting to join?

I have hopefully just come out the other side of potty training (although having some probs, check my thread!!) but one thing to bear in mind, which happened to me this time, is that they may bypass the potty altogether and go straight to the toilet. I thought my dd wasn't ready, as every time I tried to get her to go on the potty she went mental, then i dug out my old trainer seat for the toilet and tried that and she took to it like a dream!!

Ok, will try that one too. Will also check your thread to see what is going on.

Thanks for the reply

Right, we have had about 4 wees in the potty, and about 6 accidents. I am simply putting him on the potty every 15 mins. Is this right? Are we doing okay?

Okay, will wee on potty when put on it, but happily wets/poos pants and doesn't care. Do you think I should wait until he doesn't like being wet or dirty or just keep going hoping he gets it eventually? God I'm confused and very very bored!

Ha! Glad I'm not the only one really bored of sitting by the loo and trying to encourage him to stay there!!!!

Just visualising 1,000s of mums and dads sitting on the bathroom floor this weekend saying "come on darling, do a wee-wee in the toilet for mummy/daddy, just a little wee-wee, there's a good boy/girl"...

I bought a sticker chart with a digger on it. Brilliant. He loves it. BUT HATES ME PUTTING STICKERS ON IT AND DEFACING HIS DIGGER AARRGGHH sigh

mac, lovely to know I am not alone in this lonely world of bodily fluids and their placement! How long have you been going for? Have only just finished day 2 and am losing the will to live! Suddenly realise how much I love love love nappies - probably more than my ds right now!

i started trying to potty train on sat with ds no sucess at all he will not sit on the nappy nor the toilet. have left he nappy off most of today and caught most of his wees help how do i get him to sit on the potty. want to give up, advice pls. thanx

I started on saturday too! I had heard that others have used good old fashioned bribery i.e. a chocolate button for every time they sit on the potty. Sadly my ds has dairy/egg/nut allergy so I ordered some allergy free chocolate footballs off the internet. Thankfully the postman turned up just in the nick of time, and then I put them in a jar out of reach, but in sight and told him that only little boys who sit on a potty get one. Since then he will sit on the potty but only if I put him on it. Other than that, he will happy wet/poo himself and carry on as normal. I suppose we have made some sort of progress but am gradually losing heart with him ever not minding being wet/dirty. He is in pants by the way.
