Metanium treatment advice

Hello there!

My first MN posting, please be gentle Smile!

My first new born is 4 weeks old next week. Scary!

Anyway last week I noticed she had some red dots with pinprick white bits in the middle. They were on her girly bits, mainly her labia.
I saw the midwife last Friday for her last weigh in and asked her what they were. I was told they were "baby spots" and completely normal and to use Metanium treatment the yellow one. I have used it since last Friday evening and the spots have gone. However, she has been left with dry rings where the spots were. Almost like it's dried it out and peeled the skin off and left a dry outline. The skin in not raw.

Has anyone's babe had these "baby spots"/ red pinpricks with white dots. Also has anyone experienced the dry circles after using Metanium treatment?

Thank you so much :-)

Yes, metanium does that. Just keep putting a little sudacrem on it and it will come off eventually.

Thank you. Have you experienced this with the yellow metanium? I'm a constantly worried new mum!

Yes that's normal with metanium. Nothing to worry about honestly. If the initial soreness has gone you can just leave it now.

Yep, my DS had some very sore nappy rash and the yellow metanium did exactly as you describe. Mince the sore had healed the white stuff eventually came off. A little sudacrem over it helped to soften it - don't be tempted to try and wipe it off as you can make it sore again.

My 7 month old dd has had those dry circles. We've used yellow metanium and I hadn't made the connection.

You know you can get white metanium as a daily barrier cream? I've used it since DS was tiny and it's been brilliant. Might be something with thinking of switching to now she's all healed.
