I know its a specific title, but my nearly six month old is still doing three naps a day and I really need to be able to engineer a nap between 1-3. DD is at preschool every afternoon and we walk (5mins each way). She goes 12.30-3.15.

If he doesnt nap in that time he ends up falling asleep just before pick up time which althouvh I can lay him in thw buggy to sleep he still wakes when we walk out the door.

If your little one naps 1-3, what doe the rest of their day look like? Hoping I can try and copy an established routine!

No help here, I'm afraid. My 5 month old still naps 3 times a day :(

It might be a little unrealistic for such a small baby to get by on just one nap. Gina Ford's book suggests two naps at this age - perhaps you could look up her routine?

Oh sorry I didnt mean to cut all other naps, just to ensure that the main one was 1-3.

Is pre school your only timed commitment? I found it wasn't until DS could last the morning school run without nodding off that he'd do around 1. Still erratic though.

Oh, I see. Sorry :)

My LO's naps vary day-by-day, but I tend to find this happening a lot:
7 am Wake and feed, then play
10 am Feed to sleep, nap for 1 hour
11ish am Wake and play
1 pm Feed to sleep again, though might nap for anywhere between 30 min and 1.5 hours

She gets sleepy after about 2 hours of awake time, so if I need her to be asleep at a particular time, I'll plan her day backwards from then.

Yep just a quick ten min walk at 12.20 and another one at 3.15. Other than that am happy to mooch around the house/garden til these naps get better.

Hmm might try and stretch him til 10am for the first nap (usually its 9), which would then help push lunch later

Mine naps morning, about 1.30 then about 4. She's 6 months.

I don't think many cut down until 8 or 9 months?

My ds is 8 months and his day is roughly like this:

5.30 wake up. 6-6.30 I drag myself out of bed.

7.00 breakfast
9.30 20 min nap
11.30 lunch.
1.00 - 3.30 nap
3.30 snack
6.00 dinner
7.00 bath and bed.
Then wakes up a million times in the night wanting to talk/play/ cuddle!

When mine was that age he napped at approx 10, 1, 4 for 45 minutes a piece. When he dropped to 2 naps the second one was around 2 or 2:30pm for about an hour.
