Awww.... That's sweet really. I had to pick up DS when he was 9, but that was his 1st & last cub camp and only 20 minutes away.

He's now 10, going on school residential in 7 weeks. This time I'd have to drive half way across the country if he bottles it, so wish us luck!

first time I quite understand...the last one was Oct with school, the only thing I can think of is that at school he see's his friends everyday and he loves the teacher, cubs most of the kids are from other schools so he doesnt see them only weekly and the bond isnt as strong. Nevermind suppose we all have our off days. Hope your DS is ok Ragged...ours was a 60 mile round trip!!

I suspect he will tell you the real reason soon enough. As a cub leader I have had cubs not likeing the people they are sharing a tent with, being to scared of the dark, seeing a tiny spider and freaking out, having other cubs telling them ghost stories and scaring them, hearing 'strange noises' and getting scared, being told off by a leader and the cub sulking about it, not likeing the rain / cold, the cub not likely the food, the cub wanting to go to a party etc that is going on elsewhere over the same time period and making excuses to leave, the cub being generally unwell, the cub being worried about something going on at home, parents fighting, parents ill etc. hopefully he will give it another go and enjoy it more next time.
