One day a week childcare for 1yo DD - wwyd?

We were thinking of a nanny, but struggling to find someone I think "yes, them!" So now I'm considering the nursery where ds (3.6) goes twice a week - but he's not totally happy there (more his personality tbh) and I worry that dd wouldn't settle just doing one day a week. Not sure about childminders and don't know anyone for recommendations.

Wwyd for just one day?

Both my kids go 1 day per week. DS is 3.5yo and started at 10mo and DS is now 14mo and started the week after her birthday. Both settled in even tho it's only 1 day a week and they love it xx

What aren't you sure about with childminders?

I think with a childminder I'd worry that dd would be carted about for school runs and it just feels a bit less secure, I can't put it into words. I also don't know anyone who's used them.

My son started nursery at 8 months doing 1 day a week at nursery and he was fine, really enjoys nursery. If we didnt have my mother in law looking after him 2 days a week we would do more days. I think nursery is great for children and when I go back to work after second maternity leave I wont hesitate to send my ds2 to nursery 1 day a week.

good luck with your choice. x

At that age I think they like the school run, they get to see older children who are usually fun with them, see what's happening and a bit of their environment. Maybe go to the park on their way home. We've met four childminders one way and another and you get to know if they are right for your family.
But if it's a day when your DS is in nursery it would be hard to do two drop offs and get to work I'd have said.
