Ok have 2 options to drive there and we are then there! Or Hubby wants to go via train but it means going from Birmingham to London, then tube to Waterloo, then train from Waterloo to Chessington then walk or taxi to it.

Sounds a bloody nightmare and would just rather get there by car!!

Train is miles easier. The park is a 10 minute walk from the station.

really do you think so just we have to do train, tube, change tube, train walk

You can get off at surbiton and catch the Number 71 bus outside Marks and spencer in surbiton highstreet. The 71 will drop you off inside the zoo.
Its a short walk from chessington south station, to the zoo.

If you do get the train to Chessington South then go from Kings Cross to Vauxhall on the Victoria line. All trains that go to CS will start at Waterloo but always stop at Vauxhall (next stop). Much quicker!

I'm assuming you've got/will have a travelcard. Buses are cashless in surbiton, so you would either need oyster or a travel card. There is a local taxi firm at chessington north called chessington cars (if you want to look them up). The walk isn't unpleasent though, it's about 10 minutes along a main road and into the park. You'll probably find yourself following a load of fellow park go-ers as well

I'd drive from Birmingham. chessington is only a few minutes (when the huge roadworks have finished) from the M25, so it would be both easier and quicker to drive, ime.

We live not too far from Chessington, and had to,drive to Birmingham a couple of weeks ago, and it took us just over 2 hours.

ah didnt know that well that will make it easier...

KX to Vauxhall, then train to Chessington South (trains terminate there to make it easy). Then 10 min walk or short bus ride.

We usually get bus back to CS station and invariably miss the trains that go every 30 min, so I usually refuse to buy an ice cream in the park and then get one at the station's tiny newsagent. There are no other facilities at the station, it's just one platform down some steps.

Driving will be much quicker, surely!
