Stroppy six year old stress!

DD has recently turned 6. Over the last few months she has been SO stroppy, "urgh"ing every time she's asked to do something, rolling her eyes at every possible opportunity and then bursting into hysterical (fake) tears every time she's told off for her bad attitude, saying things like "great, now my day is REALLY ruined thanks to you!"

I'm not sure if this is ordinary 6-year-old behaviour or not, but it is really beginning to stress me out. When I get home from work I look forward to "family time" but feel like it's a constant battle with the strops, tears and attitude recently.

Does anyone else's 6-year-old behave like this, to this extreme? What do you do about it? I'm absolutely exhausted from it!

my dd is 6 and a complete diva - cries whenever she is told off, will only wear certain things and back chats. even had I hate you, your the worst mummy over trivial things.

I have been known to lose my temper, really doesn't work and get annoyed with myself afterwards. overall I ask her to sit in her room until she can behave or speak to me nicely. she loses privileges (tv after dinner, going out somewhere or certain toys are taken away to be earnt back) my mantra repeated about 50 times a day is 'pick your battles' forget the small stuff otherwise it can seem like im constantly nagging.

I find the week before a school holiday to be the worst as she is tired and needs that break. we have been having lots of duvet afternoons this week as she is tired and grumpy its not worth battling over.

I think you're right nocuts. I am CONSTANTLY nagging these days. Perhaps I need to stop sweating the small stuff. Thanks!
