Reduced feeding

Just looking for some advice.

My baby boy is just over 2 weeks old, I exclusively pumped for him & bottle fed him till he was 11 days & then unfortunately due to personal reasons I had to put him on to formula.

He took to the formula well, taking his usual 3oz every 3 hours. Until the last couple of days, he has been 'entertaining' the teat & lazily feeding. He has been taking 2-3oz at a struggle. He is sleeping 3-4 hours between feeds, so he's not hungry.. Should I be worried?

Thank you! FTM x

How are his nappies? Is he getting plenty of wet and dirty ones? As a guide, he should be having 2.5 floz for every 1lb of weight. So if he's 10lb that's 25floz in a day. Would you say this was about right?

Thank you for your reply.

He gives us plenty of wet nappies and he's giving at least 1-4 poo's, which have become more solid over the last few days.

He is 8lb at the minute, so I'm guessing he needs around 20floz a day

So would you say he's taking roughly 20floz in 24 hours?

I'd say close to it. Some feeds are bigger than the other, but as long as they tally up. I would get out of bed and check my feeding book, but he's fast asleep on my chest Blush

Just love those newborn cuddles. Sounds like you are both doing really well.
