Hiya,
Basically I am completing the Access to Nursing and Healthcare professions course and it is going to take two years as I am doing it part time.
However, the college are already asking us to look and consider where we want to go next.
So, my main thought was midwifery, then i was thinking if its best to do a nursing degree and be a nurse for a few years, and then complete training for midwifery at a latter date (I have time!).
So with nursing comes other choices, adult or child? I'm interested in Neonatal work (so that is child?), but also interested in A and E work, so is that adult?

I need to let them know after half term (this week) which direction I want to head in!

Any advice on the courses would be appreciated, and your thoughts in general.

Thanks

when I started my access course it was with the intention of going into midwifery- however as time went on ( well after about 6 weeks), I started to look at the role of a nurse more and became drawn more to it.
There are so many specialities that you can go into once you have trained and this is what appeals to me.
If you really, truly want to be a midwife then do midwifery, there is no guarantee that you will be able to do an 18mth coversion ( these are generally more competitive to get on that the 3yr Direct entry course) and would you really want to do nursing for three years if your heart really isnt in it?

is there no one at college who can offer any advice??

alternativly- ask the same Q on this website
here
lots of advice on there
