London - Best place for cocktails, with wow factor?

Sorry for posting here but this area always gives a quick answer!

We arriv ein London 10.30ish and Ive been tasked with finding a place to go to for cocktails/champers before our 2pm show. Shard/Oxo Tower would of been great but a few cant do lifts or heights.

Anyone suggest anywhere with a bit of a wow factor!

Sketch on conduit street? Hush bar?

MadeInChorley · 17/03/2015 13:42

You want somewhere west end presumably that is open during the day. Charlotte Street Hotel might be a good bet.

hulahoopsilove · 17/03/2015 13:44

Or The Booking Office at St Pancras? It's an amazing room

hulahoopsilove · 17/03/2015 13:47

Somewhere with the wow factor shard or Oxo would be great due to the views but shame not able to do that

Skylon on the south bank? It overlooks the Thames but it's not too high. Or just sit at the bar at the oxo.

chickydoo · 17/03/2015 13:51

American bar at the Savoy, always my first choice....will be there again soon Grin

MadeInChorley · 17/03/2015 13:54

Nothing is going to beat TheShard or St Pancras for architecture or view.

Skylon on the South Bank has good views.

It's in the basement. Funky at night and very dark - a trip to the fully mirrored loos is interesting, but I doubt it will be much going on at lunchtime.

I'dtry Charlotte Street. Not wow factor, but very pleasant for a glass of champagne. I'm Londoner, so we tend to think the wow factor places are for tourists or freebies on client entertaining nights.

the Mondrian hotel has just opened right next to the oxo tower. It has a gorgeous cocktail bar on the ground floor.

Radio rooftop bar

hellospring · 17/03/2015 17:27

Ignore me - didn't see about the lifts!

MelanieCheeks · 17/03/2015 17:29

Cahoots is a new one opened in an old Tube station/ train. Not sure about its opening hours, though.

irishamy89 · 17/03/2015 17:46

Freud bar near Shaftsbury avenue!

Eastpoint · 17/03/2015 17:49

From 12 you can have cocktails/wine/champagne & canapés at the Savoy - they have a canapé menu in the space before the river room. You pick however many different types you'd like. I've only had the savory, I don't rate their cakes/tea

if you're around charlotte street then the Shochu lounge up the road is very civilised.

The lobby bar at 1 Aldwych - trip adviser highly recommends it. Great service.

ElleDubloo · 18/03/2015 18:51

Another vote for Skylon Bar on the Southbank. Lovely views and delicious cocktails, including non-alcoholic ones!
