Yes all the time. I do it on purpose. When else would you sleep!? Grin

BigRedBall · 15/03/2015 08:24

Breastfeeding during the night releases a hormone to help you go back to sleep. I co slept with all my small babies and mostly slept through night feeds. So no it's not just you!

flipflopsonfifthavenue · 15/03/2015 08:28

Yes, every time. Switched to co-sleeping as I was falling asleep sitting up in bed. Now DS2 suddenly won't feed lying down so I'm fucked.

AntiHop · 15/03/2015 22:24

I feed lying down so I can fall asleep.

Lucked · 15/03/2015 22:32

The first time it happened to me I had lowered her to my lap (I fed sitting up) and when I looked down she was completely under the duvet. Got the fright of my life -no idea how long she was under there but I was very very lucky that she was fine. Duvet got pushed down my legs after that.

I never could never master feeding lying down or co sleeping

Littlecaf · 16/03/2015 11:32

I have a 4 week old and on Friday night I did the 4am feed in bed on my lap, woke up at 6.30 - no idea how long/much he had and was guilty throughout the day as he was under the duvet! This morning I got back in bed with him after DP left for work, bf lying down and feel asleep again. Resolved not to feel bad. It was twice out of tens of times over the last 4 weeks. I am determined not to co sleep - it's not for us, I like my space in my bed. Spend a lot of time on the Internet at 3am trying not to fall asleep......odd to see what I was looking at in the morning (sushi restaurants, stencil patterns, Vietnam films, jobs etc, it's like a stream of semi consciousness).... Just need to stay awake.....

Katekoom · 17/03/2015 01:41

I'm there right now. Stay awake!!!

Never with DS1 but with DS2 Im just so exhausted Id fall asleep.

Several times Id wake in the night to find myself sitting in bed with DS2 asleep in my arms and no recollection whatsoever of having picked him up out of his cot.

Once I woke up and he'd slipped off my lap and only his head was on my thigh. I got a real fright because he could have slid off the other way onto the wooden floor. I've coslept since that night.

RevoltingPeasant · 17/03/2015 09:36

Little caf I also can't/won't co sleep as need my space and thrash about too much when sleeping. I have a feeding chair in a room adjacent to our room and go there for night feeds. Ensures I don't fall asleep in bed with her and I always fall asleep again right away when back in bed.

Littlecaf · 18/03/2015 09:21

That's a good idea peasant.... Haven't fallen asleep since (DS seems to be sleeping for longer) so haven't done it since. Fingers crossed!
