I am so distraught, i picked my 8 month old baby up from nursery today (her second day) and she was crying her little eyes out, and drooling as if she had been crying for some time. I just dont want to drop her off tomorrow i feel awful... but i have to work so i do not have a choice really. Is nursery damaging my baby? who is usually such a happy little thing :(

Any mums out there feel that their babies are being damaged by going to nursey so young - or am i being daft?

Too upset

Love

No you're not being silly. Did you ask the staff what had happened and if she'd been crying long? If it's her second day she could be worn out and still adjusting, some babies take time. Take a few more days to see what happens, and just give her lots of cuddles if she wants them. You're not ruining your child and I would think the nursery isn't either, but I haven't seen the nursery so can't judge that. Are you working full time? You have my sympathies, I've only been back two months and DD has been in her nursery three months but we do still have the odd difficult day!

My DD would be perfectly happy at nursery until she saw me then she'd bawl her eyes out. They thought it was possibly that seeing me would make her realise how much she'd missed me. Could it be that?

It might just be that you arrived at a bad time, she's still settling in, so there will be a few moments where she gets upset, but it's worth having a talk with them to see how long she'd been upset and what set it off. You're her mummy and you're allowed to ask questions to make sure she's ok, a decent nursery will welcome your interest.
