How to dress my fat baby?

My baby is really fat. Really really fat. She weighed 7.5 kg at 4 months (over the 91st centile line) and now 2 weeks later looks even heavier. She is quite long but also very fat, with soft pot belly and two fat folds per half-limb.

Every day I dress her in a 6-9 month vest and sleepsuit. But I'd like to dress her in something more interesting. When we go out, she looks like a 9-month old, so people wonder why is she in a sleepsuit all the time?? Problem is, it's a bit of a struggle getting tights, leggings and trousers over her fat thighs and big bottom. It's possible, but faffy, especially as she needs her nappy changed a lot due to frequent breastfed liquidy poo explosions and a copious appetite. Dresses are OK, but I don't want to leave her legs bare in this cold weather.

Any ideas for alternative clothing?

Any brands that are good for really really fat babies?

Tops and leggings or dungarees?

M Y babies have all been chunky and i just put them on soft clothes eihtout annoying waistbands.

Dresses or tunic style longer tops work well with leggings.

She sounds edible. Love chubby babies. How do you know people are wondering why shes in a sleepsuit. I be there not op.

Sorry no advice just clucking. Can we have a pic?

5madthings · 10/03/2015 14:10

I bought from h&m, m&s, boots when mine were little. Also blue zoo (debenhams)and pop are nice but more expensive.

Frugi is generously sized.

Scandinavian style baby clothes are lovely, look at funky little people they do lovely stuff.

My fattest baby wore a lot of stretch dungarees.

5madthings · 10/03/2015 14:10

But mine stayed in babygrows for agrs, i had more brightly coloured funky ones for daytime.

GothicRainbow · 10/03/2015 14:12

I love babies when they are in that roly poly cute cuddly phase. I had a refluxer who was a comfort eater and we had to have loose waistbands for him. We found dungarees where great and mothercare and M&Co had more generous sizing on the waists.

Please post a pic!

Sosix - hehe, indeed she is delicious. When she smiles, her cheeks are so fat they squeeze her eyes shut. Here's a pic. (took me ages to get those trousers on her)

I think your baby would suit some high heels, v neck tops with vertical striped mini skirt.

Is this a joke OP? Of course your baby looks fat, better still, she is fat, they all are, it's rolls of skin waiting to be grown into.

You need to start thinking about how she feels instead of what she looks like.

5madthings · 10/03/2015 14:14

Oh yes m&co as well forgot about them, we dont have one locally but i think you can order online now.

Mine looked like they had elastic bands round their wristd ans thighs, scrummy fat rolls!

MerryMarigold · 10/03/2015 14:14

I always thought Next came up very large for babies. So does George. Dungarees usually have poppers to change a nappy. You can get them in a jersey style fabric sometimes...but need to search! You can get Onesies without the feet so slightly less babygrow-ish. Surely there are some nice jersey trousers (not leggings, which are just as tight as tights!) and have a generous waist. Honestly, Asda is a good bet. All the supermarkets.

5madthings · 10/03/2015 14:15

M&s used to have some lovely soft dungarees with built in feet. Will see if i can find a link.

sosix · 10/03/2015 14:16

Op I am holding you resposible for my brooding. She is just gorgeus!!!!!

ElleDubloo · 10/03/2015 14:16

cottageinthecountry - nope, not a joke, but posted with tongue firmly in cheek. My baby is very fat and I'd like some ideas on how to dress her, but I find her adorable and I'm not complaining at all! :p Sorry about the ambiguous tone.

Thanks everyone! I'll definitely look into those suggestions.

TheChristmasTreeFairy · 10/03/2015 14:22

No idea on the clothes front but I came in hoping for a photo and I was not disappointed.
She's utterly scrummy and I just want to pinch her cheeks, gently of course!

tak1ngchances · 10/03/2015 14:22

Oh I want to eat her up. I have quite a skinny baby and I would love her to get a bit chubbier!!!

anothernumberone · 10/03/2015 14:23

cottage that is the funniest post ever. Are you implying that the OP needs to stop giving her 4 mth old a complex about her fatness.

OP she is adorable. I have had 2 friends with the ultimate squishness too, 1 girl and 1 boy. They both managed to get a lot of baby track suits which looked comfy. Primark was a definite staple for the girl. I used baby grows for months too. Very comfy and great for poonamis.

juniorcakeoff · 10/03/2015 14:24

Jojomamanbebe and H&M do trousers with a really soft top that you can roll over and do not cut into the massive belly. They say they are for boys but blah. I love a fat baby.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 10/03/2015 14:25

Ah I had one like this OP! She's now 16 months and slimmed down but still has rolls where other babies don't Smile.

I just put her in sleepsuits/soft leggings/tights and soft dresses. Next sizes are pretty generous.

GothicRainbow · 10/03/2015 14:25

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!! I just want to smoosh her face!
Miss cute smooshy baby cuddles sigh!
