Mine are DS 18 months and DD 7 weeks at the moment, so I'm not far ahead of you. Tbh I didn't do much beforehand, we had been teaching the older one 'gentle' and no biting when excited, but that was because he needed to know that for nursery. He is naturally very boisterous and a little violent when he is playing.
We also brought him a doll and a book on being a big brother, neither have been useful at all.
We found he just got what he was ment to do, he is always very gentel with her, goes to her when she crys, and takes her bottle, dummy, cloths, etc to her or the adult with her whenever he sees them elswhere in the house.
The first meeting, my OH brought the older one to the hospital and I left her in the cot and met my older child, he had no interest in me and wanted to see and touch the baby. The only problem was she cried just as he first met her, so he cried and ran away but 20min later he was stroking her head and happy again.
I cope by having DS in nursery every morning, having a DD on a bit of a schedule and having a cleaning, cooking rota so I get a little done each day and stay on top of things. Oh and lots of chocolate and occasional wine!
good luck
