Parent with Bipolar disorder

My husband suffers with Rapid Cycling Bipolar Disorder, he was only diagnosed after both our children were born, but now it plays on my mind as we are also looking to have baby number 3.

I have read lots of books and attended carers meetings at his clinic, although don't know anyone in my position. We recently emigrated to Germany as a lot of Hubbies triggers were things completely out of my control,, things like the government, the area we were living going downhill, cost of living, things like that. We moved to not only to eliminate those triggers but to give our family a better chance of happiness in the long run.

It plays on my mind a lot about how I teach the children to manage their emotional well being. I know there is no guarantee they will develop it, but everything I have been told or read says to teach them now. Anyone in a similar situation, or any tips?

My mum has bi polar and now Im in my 30's. I would say I have a lot more empathy and emotional intelligence than others my age because of this.
Pit falls for people like me are feeling responsible for those around me.
Attracting partners who need look after.
Feeling guilty that I don't give my mum enough time.
Constantly being scared that if I have strong emotions it means I too am mentally ill.
I go to a therapist every week and she provides me with the self compassion I naturally lack and teaches me to process my feelings in a healthy way.
As long as you provide a good model for dealing with feelings they'll be alright don't worry.
I love my mum to bits, she is quirky but she is the only mum Ive got and I wouldn't want it any other way.
PS I didn't live with her growing up. My dad brought my sister and I up but we visited her often.
