Another potty training thread

I am looking for some advice, my 2.8 year old DD demanded to use the potty today to have a poo. She then went and got herself some pants out of her big girl drawer and put them on and refused the nappy. I wasn't going to potty train yet, as she is recovering from an operation (nothing major) but she requires lots of physio everyday that upsets her, and the advice I got from my HV is to delay potty training until all that's died down. Anyway I just let her wear her pants, but then she wet herself, and got into a right tizz. Started screaming and crying for her nappies. She is now frightened of pants and the potty.

About six months ago she did this, demanded to poo on the potty and then got upset when she wet herself. She seems to be happy to poo, talk about pooing, but can't tell me about when she wants or has done a wee. Is this normal?

I'd say so, yes. I've just finally got my 3yo DS in to pants after months of on/off trying.

Doing a poo in the potty came quite a while before wees for both my two. You get more notice with a poo, don't you. So it makes sense.

What you don't want is a situation where she's holding on, to either wee or poo. Because that will cause you no end of problems.

Just do what she's happy with. If she is happy to wear her nappies, put them back on.
