What has constipated my baby??

My 8 month old DD has been suffering with constipation this week...poor thing, has been visibly painful when she is pooing and v. small firm poos which is really unusual for her ! She hasn't really had any different solids or any less breast milk than usual...and I have been giving her little sips of my water as she has shown an interest ! She has porridge in the morning & then fruit and veg and some protein - ie a little bit of hummus - we are doing BLW and spoon feeding mixed. The only things she has had that's a bit different is half a pot of HIPP Organic Veg Chicken & Rice baby food pot (never had before) and on Sunday my MIL apparently gave her a sweet brioche bun when I wasn't there.....Hmm -- could that have done it ? I felt weird about her having had it when I was told about it...apparently she 'loved it' - (of course, it was sweet bread!) but I immediately had this feeling of "hmm I wish DP hadn't let her have it...."
Am I wrong in thinking she's a baby and she doesn't need treats like this and it's possibly even bad for her ? She's never had anything like that before. I only give her rice cakes occasionally.
Anyway I gave her some stewed prunes and that seems to have helped! PHEW. Just a bit baffled as to why she got it & wondering if it was the bun ...not sure how much of it she actually ate.

Erm, I think it's a coincidence.

It was a brioche bun. It's just bread and a bit of sugar. No reason it should cause an issue unless you know she has some intolerance to bread.

Sometimes these things happen.
