As above really...

I have no children yet (pg with dc1) and it is Nephews 1st birthday party next week.

I get on really well with sil and dp is really close to his sister and adores his nephew so we'd really like to make an effort.

I'd like to ask for some help finding a gift that is age appropriate, as I don't have a clue when it comes to toys etc and also something he is likely to enjoy and get some good play/use out of.

Can go up to around £40-50 budget wise, although if something is cheaper we can look at a few different things :)

Melamine plate/bowl/sippy cup set

Sleeping bag

High chair toy with suction base

Anything that moves eg battery operated train or car

Noisy books like this one or this one

I think these bibs are amazing but they're pricey for a bib, and a few would be nice

a bath toy - Tomy and Nuby make really good ones

ELC does a very good free standing bubble machine for about 15 plus big bottles of bubble mix for about 6 - I would really recomemnd this

Thanks for lots of different suggestions that's really helpful :) I can ask sil about them aswell, see what she thinks is best.

The bubble machine sounds good, I remember my little sister had a small one she became obsessed with, she'd lay on the floor for ages just watching and eventually helping the cat chase the bubbles!

Ride-on toy? Maybe a Little Tykes car? DS got this for his 1st birthday and has been in it pretty much every day since - he's 2 now.

Scuttlebug

They come in lots of different colours. My DC loved them and we were always getting asked about them. They fold up so easy to carry around or tidy away.

Things DS has loved age 1-1.5 include duplo, wooden play kitchen, a wheelybug, little tykes slide and play house, magnetic board and magnetic letters, table and chairs, cars cars cars, books, and nuby foam bath letters.
We have also got a lot of use out of his mountain buggy clip on high chair - he sits at the island and 'helps' with food prep.
