Hi, I am returning to work very shortly after taking maternity leave and then redundancy. I have a 5 year old daughter Emily and a 10 month old son Samuel. I am looking for child care in the Orpington are in Kent, not sure right now if a nanny, live in help or child minder would be best. Em is at school at Hillside School so I need someone to do the school stuff too.

Anyone out there who could help out?

just a small word of advice most people dont put their kids names on these boards . If no luck on this site ring the council and ask for a list of childminders . Best of luck .

Thanks for your help, I have tried the council, I was just hoping that someone here might have a vacancy. Just one thing, why should I not mention my childrens names??

I think there are worries about dodgy people being on this site...not nice but that is the world we live in.

Mercedes519 · 25/10/2006 20:53

Not us of course...we are very nice

What's wrong with giving names? What exactly could someone dodgy do with this information?

JessaJackOLantern · 26/10/2006 14:49

Also most people avoid using names becuase it reduces their anonymity...your next door neighbour/boss/sister inlaw could also be on MN (plus...saves going through explaining why the name you chose isn't poncey/pretentious/common/cheesy etc etc )

ConnieLingus · 26/10/2006 14:49

Well, Barbara also mentioned the school....it;s a very very long shot, but somebody could go to the school and ask for Emily

pablopatito · 26/10/2006 14:55

Sure, but I reckon I could go to almost any school in the country and there will be a girl called Emily.

ConnieLingus · 26/10/2006 14:56

I did say it was a very very long shot

Every day I find out about children. My local newspaper often carries photos of children, with their names, ages, school, and a story about something interesting they've done. I know the names of many of the local children round our way because I can here my neighbours yelling at the top of their voices, "Wayne! If you don't get back here for your tea, I'm going to belt ya!". My local library and church have pictures painted by children alongside their names, school and ages. The world is full of these things and no-one seems to mind or worry, but get on the internet and everyone is shrouded in secrecy for protection. I'm not knocking it, I just don't get it.

I only want some help with childminding! And Connie I do like your nick name!
