If i do an aprenticeship would i be entitled to tax credits?

I would be 4 days a week on paid placement and 1 day in college. Would i fall under the tax credits bracket for help with childcare or would i not because i will be a student. I am a single parent so no other income.

The apprentieship is a new one being piloted this september and i'm trying to work out finances before i go ahead and apply.

Would you be applying to the training organisation or the employer for the apprenticeship. If it's direct with the employer then it's basically a job with training and you would qualify for working tax credits including the child care element if it's through a training organisation then you could if young enough apply for a care to learn child care funding failing that the training organisation would be able to advise you of any grants or funding available.

I'll be applying through my college. I am 29. Thanks i will check with college what help i might be able to get.
