when to have baby no.2?

Just before or after ds 2nd birthday?

I am in my early 30s, would want 3 or 4 children eventually.

I am so so broody for no.2, but only just stopped breastfeeding no.1, and haven't found time for exercise, so am weak and skinny...

I work, and am desperate to stop that and get on with growing my family, but aware that childcare for 2 x under-3s is hard. I will need to keep my career going, but will definitely take a year's ML next time.

I know it may not happen straight away, but it could!

My head says wait, a bigger age gap is more sensible, and my body could do with a rest.

My heart says I want another baby!
My husband supports me either way!

Thoughts? Thanks

I have a DS who is almost one. If me and DH do have another (undecided as yet) it won't be until DS is 4 or 5.

I don't have the mental strength to cope with a baby whilst having a toddler to deal with at that same time, lol Grin

There's 2.9 between mine (smaller one is just 4mo). We toilet trained the elder pretty much as soon as I found out I was pregnant, just knew I couldn't hack doing it while heavily pregnant or with a newborn. Something to consider? I'm so glad we did it.

there will be 23months between mine seemed like a good idea at the time!
Am anticipating a hard year that pays off as they grow.

Thanks Shedding and Mrscogg it's hard battling infertility, knowing I can't have the family I imagined but hopefully we can still manage a DC2 and that the bigger age gap will be okay.

We'll have 2.5 year age gap here when dc2 is born. I had spd in previous pregnancy so was worried it would be as bad this time. But it's much better because dd is able to walk and climb now so makes things a little easier (lifting her was excruciating in early pregnancy). She can also feed herself & doesn't need changing as often as when she was younger. Dd has finally started sleeping through the night and will be starting nursery in September so it will give me some time to get organised and work out a routine to suit us all. These may seem like little things but make it much easier when you have a newborn and a toddler.
Everyone is different so do what suits you and your family. Exciting times ahead Smile

I have a nearly 3y age gap between DC1 and 2 and exactly 2y sge gap between DC2 and 3.

The 3y age gap was most certainly easier! But it also depends on personality of DC as DC2 is an adorable PITA!

I would say early 30s though and wanting to step back into career (as I have) crack on work it now. The difference isn't massive enough to wait.
