Headlice & ask what are your tricks to stop DC's getting them!

I'm literally on my last nerve when it comes to headlice, my DD has caught them twice in less than a week!!
I treated her with Headrin, combed her hair to within an inch of it's life, washed her uniform, all bedding, coat, scarf, towel etc. Tied her hair up and plaited it for school and sprayed it with repellent spray, invested in tea tree shampoo and comb her hair with a nit comb in the morning and at bed time. Yet she still catches them!
Im at the point where I'm going to inspect the kids in the school line and yell at nitty parent :( as it's costing a fortune in lotion and so time consuming. Plus my DD has such thick hair she hates having to have the bit comb dragged through it twice a day.

I think my mum tried pretty much everything you've mentioned, except the Headrin and headlice treatments. I think they don't do anything to prevent headlice, and are just to cash in!

I would just keep nitting her hair everyday until it decreases. And obviously try to get as many eggs out as possible. You don't need these lotions. Just use conditioner, so the lice can't stick to the hair, and comb her hair with a nit comb. This is all I did with my son (he had longish hair at the time) and they were gone within just over a week or so.

I don't know whether you would want to try this but I watch Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners and one of the mums bathed her kids in Dettol (the anti septic stuff). Like a cap full in the bath. She seemed to believe they stopped headlice..? Apparently she didn't get any, so...

Keeping hair plaited is the best you can do while she's at school, but at this age it's inevitable they will get headlice and nits.
