Just read this article about a company determined to break the gender stereotypes and thought I would share as it may interest those of you with girls...

Lovely idea but not keen on the styling of the clothes though

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 13/02/2015 08:12

Nice idea but the clothes look like a GCSE textiles project

LittleLionMansMummy · 13/02/2015 08:34

I like this idea.

But as the mum of a little boy I get really fed up with the lack of choice for boys, yet rows upon rows of things for little girls. I also get really annoyed by motifs declaring 'I'm a little monster' etc. I'd be very interested in an affordable and stylish range of clothes for boys.

Great! But as PP say they seem to suffer the same way that eco friendly stuff used to ... They look a bit worthy, home made and serious for my taste.

I have bought some great stuff from alternative shops (alternatots and red bubble etc) and my other top tip is H&M unisex combined with Xmas skirts in black/gold/silver (v cheap in Jan!).
Next have some nice non-sugar-pink stuff with tropical designs and their little girl clothes start at 3-6 months which revolutionised dd's wardrobe: tshirts in denim with funky rainbows, tshirt with cameras on, silver tutu over a grey baby grow (next boy's) with "Newbe" on it.

DH says she will rebel by wearing M&S jeans and a nice pastel sweater from uniqlo when she is older. Grin

Nice idea but why oh why have 'princess' in the brand title. Might just be me but I HATE princess stuff and I can't bear hearing girls called princesses.

Like the idea but as PPs have said, in practice it looks a bit school project-y!

Madcatgirl · 13/02/2015 13:21

Little lion mans mummy is right, the section out there for boys is piss poor.

I end of buying mainly john Lewis boys and joules now because it's not full of little monster and assorted bollocks and comes in nicer ranges of colours such as orange and green as opposed to blue, blue and more blue.

gallopinghorse · 13/02/2015 13:24

The dinosaur dress is really gonna piss off those dino-deniers!

Highlove · 13/02/2015 13:39

Galloping...that's exactly what I thought!

Sorehead · 13/02/2015 13:41

Otto & Suvi have some nice baby clothes, that don't stick to gender stereotypes- have a look on their Facebook page (disclaimer- I am in no way affiliated with this business, just like some of the patterns used :) )

fattymcfatfat · 13/02/2015 13:45

if I was to put dd in the dino dress do you think she would run around biting people on the face?! Grin

icklekid · 13/02/2015 13:52

I did consider adding a subnote to the original post with the hope not to offend the dino haters Wink

I agree the products aren't the best but I like the thought behind it! I only have a ds and tend to buy joules, boden, john lewis and next mainly from ebay

The product isnt great and the name is dire. But the premise is good.

I prefer Betsy Boo (on Facebook at least) for her dress styles and she has about a bazillion fabrics including a superhero one I want in a dress for DD.

squizita · 13/02/2015 14:47

Baby moos is also a good website for unusual clothes.

KittiesInsane · 13/02/2015 14:52

I miss KidsStuff clothing. They just bunged exactly the same patterns on all their dresses, pyjamas and even teddy-bear clothes -- loads of sheep, dinos, checks and spots and stripes, cars, fish...

The PJs were so good we passed them down for years, through several children of assorted sizes and genders. Probably that's why they stopped trading in the end.

MrsBojingles · 13/02/2015 23:15

Like the idea, but look very hom made!

afreshstartplease · 14/02/2015 08:08

I like the dinosaur one but it's all sold out

HoppityVoosh · 14/02/2015 08:15

Next sell dinosaur clothing in the girls section. There's still pink in it though.

HoppityVoosh · 14/02/2015 08:18

Tiny Vikings also have wonderful, well made unisex clothing. Nothing is labelled for boys or girls.

afreshstartplease · 14/02/2015 08:52

Currently hoppity?

afreshstartplease · 14/02/2015 08:53

Ooooo found it!

Enjoyingmycoffee1981 · 14/02/2015 12:08

Idea is great.
Product is pants.
