brushing teeth

At the minute I brush my DC' s teeth myself then let them have a go, so I know it's done properly. But as DS1 is now 5yr5m I would like him to start brushing his own teeth.
Does anyone have any tops on how I can teach him to do it correctly.
TIA

So you have an electric toothbrush. They're normally better and more 'fun' :)

Get him a timer and you should still do it for him, at least at night, until his handwriting is small and neat, about age 6 or 7, as this is when they get the dexterity to properly brush.
