Help! My baby loves her dolly more than me!

Well, maybe not literally (I hope), but why is it that DD only has to catch sight of said dolly for her whole face to light up in a beaming smile, whereas I have to clown endlessly for a nano-second grin.

I have just spent five minutes carrying completely po-faced DD (14wks) round and round the living pretending to be a prancing pony for basically no reward.

Just wondered if anyone else was Envy of their child's favourite toy, and if there was an explanation for it all. Is it cos Dolly just dances and plays pat-a-cake whereas Mummy is always wielding gripe water and making her have baths?

Make yourself a cup of tea, put your feet up, perhaps even close your eyes - then you will see how much she wants you! Wink

I think you're taking my post too seriously Sad. I like playing with DD and she does like trotting round the living room although I think she is channeling ancestral memories from when she was Boadicea being carried aloft in triumph after battle, or something like that. Very regal, no smiles.

I know that it is because she has a more complex relationship with me than with her dolly, but I just wondered if anyone else who regularly gets spurned for dolly or teddy would like to commiserate with me.

We can't go out cos the pram has broken. I'll stop wasting your time.

I was jealous of the cat.
Cat! CAT, Cat! CAAAAAAAAT. Catcatcatcatcatcat. That's all I used to hear. And it wasn't even the friendly purring, rolling cat, it was the one who was scared of everything and hid in shadows. DS loved him.

Dd loves dinosaurs. Dont get me wrong she loves tonplay with me and we have plenty of laughs and giggles throughout the day but show her a dinosaur and mummy is forgotten. Shes nearly 14months now and still loves her "disores"more than me.

TheSpottedZebra That is so sweet! I love that it was the scaredy cat he preferred too.

Fatty you're right it does have it's upsides. Although I think DD is already getting [sceptical] that dolly doesn't dance around much when I'm not there!

Thanks, feeling better now! Also, Nolim I'm sorry, i think I misinterpreted your "Chillax" as "Get a grip" when on consideration that probably wasn't what you meant. Think I need that Brew Smile
