4 week old - possible constipation?

Hi just looking for a bit of advice ... Have been combination feeding baby since 2 weeks due to failure to gain weight on bf alone. The bottle feeding has affected the bf with real problems trying to get baby to latch on so despite feeling guilty about the bf not working even as part of combination feeding I've decided to move over to ff completely. So over last seven days I have been gradually increasing formula and reducing bf. I expected changes in bowl movements but baby has now not pooed for nearly two days - any suggestions? Has been distressed and straining with legs drawn up. I know if 3 days without bm to seek medical advice and I will call HV tomorrow but any suggestions meantime would be welcome. Thanks.

Could be constipated but no poo for a day or two is also normal for a newborn.
Mine was v noisy making straining noises like a woman in labour complete with intermitent panting lol.
It passes try a hot bath and gentle tummy massage.

Thanks for your reply Pastmy - we have a result! Who'd have thought a full nappy could bring such joy! Smile
