Do any of you put your toddler to bed with a lamp switched on?

Hi,

Just wondering if any of you put your toddler's to bed with the lamp switch on?

DD has recently been avoiding bed time (sometimes she just wants to play in her room for a bit). Sometimes I hear her for a whole hour away she's been in bed talking to herself. I'm wondering whether it might be a good idea to get her a small lamp and leave it on, so that if she wants to play she can play, and if she wants to go to sleep she can go to sleep? She's 20 months btw.

I do. My dd is 3. She seems to prefer it. I used to switch it off when I went to bed, but she would wake up and shout for it to be put back on. I can't put it next to her bed as there is no socket. I tried a night light, but she didn't like it.

I worry about it disturbing her sleep, but she seems fine. I like pitch dark to sleep but that might be scary for a little one.

We've got Habitat cherry blossom lights on the chimney breast in 2yo DD's room - they give off a soft light and look really magical (DD can see them from her cot). They generally get switched off when we go to bed

Yes, dd1 (4) has a kool lamp from B&Q. They are nearly as bright as a normal lamp but are designed to stay cool so there is no way she could touch a hot bulb.

My 2 and 5 year olds share a room. We have had various night lights but just bought a glam lamp from b and q. God it's amazing it's globe which you change colour with a remote control which has coloured buttons and no words so dd2 can operate it effortlessly. The kids put it on at bedtime and choose a colour. You can just the brightness so I put it right down. My two need a nightlight they don't like pitch black

DS has one of those cool lamps. He has it on all night. I'd rather he didn't but it's a dim light and he can switch it off if he wants.

I leave the light on in the hall for my two then turn it off later

DD Who is 5 has a animal thing that projects stars on the ceiling but we also leave the bathroom light on (it's opposite her room) we shut the bathroom door too so it's not to bright for her. it gets left on all night so it's easy for her (and me) to find the way to the loo.

ds2 and dd have a lava lamp, and ds1 has a desk lamp facing away from him and to the floor.

Put DS2 to sleep with bedside light on, and sneak in with chargeable oxo nightlight later. DS1 goes off with the other nightlight.

DS2 is 5 and DS1 is 7
