Good play date tips for 3 y o boys?

I've got one of DS nursery 'friends' coming to play tomorrow. DS has struggled to make friends as we have just moved. The teacher said he had played with this boy once or twice so I leapt on it.

I'm desperate for it to go well. Can you tell me what you think would make it an amazing playdate if you were a 3 and a half year old boy?

Honestly? I think they're too young. Will his mum be there?

My 7 yo Ds still struggles with play dates. I find a structured activity works best and out of the house! Can you meet at a soft play or something like that?
Or maybe go outside and play football?

Why are they too young? My DD is nearly 3 and a half and she loves it when our neighbour of a similar age comes over.

I hope it goes well op. I would make sure you've got some toys out obviously. Sounds terrible, but hide any special toys your DS has and don't want to be played with. Some snacks maybe? Just some fruit or something.

Tbh, I wouldn't really plan any activities, just let them get on with it. Is the mum staying too? If you don't know her very well, maybe pre plan some topics to talk about incase the conversation is a bit slow to begin with. Good luck.

The mum is staying too and my DS has had lots of play dates with kids where we used to live so not too worried about his behaviour. He'll love it! I just want the other kid to love it too.

I think it's true about it being better to do them out of the home the first time but we're very very rural and it's so cold outside.
