dw due in 5 weeks, bday is next week.

What is the ideal present?

What would/did you want a few weeks before you were due?

Several kg of choc and all the chores around the house being done without being asked. Not sure how helpful that is...

Is it your first?

I'd say something that can make you feel nice even though you feel rather rubbish. So jewellery, or make up, or bath stuff if she still likes baths. Something that can't not fit!

It's a hard time, even though it's exciting. Normal things like stuff for hobbies probably not great as she's maybe wondering what she will fit in after the baby arrives. Clothes v v bad. Books can be good, but I found my concentration went to pot at the end.

Tickets out to something nice in the evening?

Dvd box set, chocolate bad books is what I would want.

Assuming that DW is well (ie, isn't thowing up non-stop/spd/etc.) and that this is a first baby, what about a weekend away?

Cake
Massage
Haircut/wash n blowdry
Manicure/Pedicure
Night out at the theatre/musical
Non alcoholic cocktails
A good tablet - great for night feeds once baby comes and mnetting one handed!

Make it about her not baby or baby related stuff.

Oh god, yes. If you had the budget and it's a first baby I would want:

• an afternoon appointment to have hair and nails done; and
• a nice evening out. Cinema, theatre, whatever.
