I've just managed to get a prescribtion for this for my 10 month old who had really bad reflux... Just wondered if anyone whose DC had taken this could give me an idea of how long it took for it to start to take effect... Thanks!

Really quickly..actually I think it might even be straight away but the child will have other symptoms such as a sore throat that will take a little while to get over. DS had reflux and was prescribed ranitidine at 4.5mo. I felt he was better within 3 or 4 days. The sickness carried on but he was a different baby!

It takes a few days for full effects to work - it has to build up in system a bit first.

We noticed significant improvements in our twins within a week. Hope it works for your LO.

It takes at least 48hrs. Also I would find when reflux started getting worse again I had to get her weighed and contact GP for ref see dosage. Hope you get relief for your DC and you soon

Thanks. Really hoping this will help.

Went to get it from the pharmacy straight after doctors appointment yesterday only to be told no one has it in stock, have to order it. It'll be in this morning, so not a massive wait, but I was so glad to have the prescription and so frustrated we had to wait another day, and so ridiculously tired I burst into tears in the middle of the shop! Urgh! Though pharmacist was lovely (had twins so understood lack of sleep!) and came to make sure I was ok... A little embarrassed about going back in today!
