Over-affectionate 2 year old?

We have a lovely toddler but she often over-reacts at events when there are lots of other toddlers, by trying to hold all the other kids' hands and trying to hug them even if they don't want to be hugged. She is quite unstoppable sometimes and it is embarrassing. She will chase the kids round. Did anyone else's toddler do this? Any tips?

No advice

but my DD is like this it started around 18 months old and has never stopped really it's calmed down a little but she still hugs everyone in her class at school everyday (some more than others)

she is also a very caring child she is always the one to comfort a upset/hurt child at school (she got an award for it last month Grin)

Don't worry it will calm down, there is nothing wrong with a loving child.

Is she an only child? And not have much contact with other children?

Yes, so far! Though I am expecting number 2 so perhaps she will finally be sated!

I've had a few people say that to me too. DD2 is due in 3 weeks so I'm hoping it will calm her further too.

When is dc2 due?

I have a hugger too. Random children, occasionally adults. Sometimes other children don't like it and we have to explain to him that he needs to give people space.
Adults just accept he's a lover not a fighter.
