Sugar water before surgery

My dd is having an op today and the consultant said that she can have boiled water with a bit of sugar two hours before if hungry.

I didn't ask quantities though and have no idea how much sugar to use?

Tbh I would just give the boiled water, the sugar is likely to end up making her feel more hungry if anything.

Thanks for the response.

Why would sugar water make her more hungry?

I'm really dreading her waking up and not being able to settle her on the bus to the hospital. The water has to be given by 11:30 and they recommend doing so to avoid dehydration but dd sleeping so nicely.

I know I if I have something sweet it messes with my blood sugar levels so will raise them for a bit but when they drop I will be totally starving iyswim!

How old is she?

My dd has had a few ops over the years so know how you are feeling Flowers
