Did anyone hear Carrie on Radio 5 this morning about the Supernanny thing?

She was talking about the report that 80% of parents take advice from TV programmes like Supernanny. Unfortunately she didn't get much time because the news was coming up.

what did she say?

Well,I was dripping wet & trying to dry myself after a shower at the time, but the main gist was that she thought it was better get advice from family & friends, but fewer mums had extended families these days (her own mum died before she had children), so that's why they created Mumsnet.
Of course,if you think of Mumsnet as an extended famly, it kind of explains a lot - sharing experience, loving support, family get-togethers, violent arguments....

One reason there wasn't much time was that they wasted ages with a silly woman who came on the radio to say that she didn't think they should talk about the teachers veil case on the radio.....

Just listened to this and it cut off mid-sentence

I think it's a little worrying in e.g. the case of Supernanny that her methods are presented as being 'the right way to do it' when there's a lot of expert opinion that disagrees.

But I suppose a prog based on e.g. Penelope Leach or Faber and Mazlish wouldn't get quite the same audience...

There wasn't really much more, Carolina, just the interviewer saying I'm sorry that's all we have time for & the news sig tune
