Will be in Scotland with my 4 year old and 2 year old for 3 weeks in February. Can take some toys with us and am on the search for those perfect toys which will keep them happy for a few hours playing inside on a rainy day.

Already got play-doh, drawing materials etc on the list but hoping for more suggestions. Thank you!

Thomas and Friends take and play sets - best toys ever and don't take up too much space when folded!

Thanks - will check that out although my kids aren't that into trains yet - hopefully could change that though.

Any other suggestions? Any christmas toys that your 4 year olds or 2 year olds are loving?

Still have some christmas money from relatives to spend on them so planning on buying a few new toys to take with us. Thanks

Might be a little advanced for your younger dc, but check out Storycubes. We've been playing with them as a family since youngest was 4. Excellent toy for the whole family,

Take along playmobil carry case? I got them for my nephew to take on an airplane.

DD got Farm in a Tin and loves it, although it does prompt endless choruses of EIEIO. Very portable though.

TBH ipad/ tablet.

Not great to have them attached to a screen I know but there are so many things you can download for free for both age groups. Will you have wifif?

If you had angry birds and some lego games for the 4yo and alphablocks tv and cbeebies app for 2yo it would kill hours.

Playmobil in carry case, or Lego in a carry case

Sillybillymuckypup · 02/01/2015 21:12

Thanks - great ideas - never seen the playmobile carry cases but think my 4 year old would love them. Story cubes also look good although not sure if they're quite old enough.

Creator does three things in one and comes in transportable boxes.

Blankiefan · 02/01/2015 21:38

Would your 2yo still play with a scuttlebug? They fold remarkably well for the type of toy.

Aquadoodle

All of above we took on plane for 6hr flight in May when he was 3.5yrs

Sillybillymuckypup · 03/01/2015 10:40

Lego creator looks great - think I'll get one of those for my 4 year old as he's just getting into it.
