horrific nappy rash - canesten??

Hi, not been on here for ages but got an extremely unhappy baby here.
DC3 (so you'd think I'd know) developed horrid nappy rash on boxing day, which I've been trying to treat with the usual creams (have a few types) but none have worked. I've given her loads of bare bum time but nothing id helping. It's so bad today I've had to give her calpol.
I'm now thinking it is probably thrush and was wondering whether a tiny amount of canesten might help? She's really quite beside herself.
Any advice gratefully received.

My DD had awful nappy rash at two weeks old- she needed Timodine (prescription only- steroid, anti fungal and antibacterial all in one), I changed to Naty nappies (unbleached nappies), water and cotton wool only, and swear by Burt's bees diaper cream (sold in boots) ever since. She is now 9 months and no problems since. I believe that she was allergic to all te chemicals in her nappy (Pampers sensitive) and that it burnt her bum which then got infected from the wee/poo. Hope it gets better soon- I remember being devastated at the pain she must have been in!!

I also forgot to mention using egg whites...I thought it sounded bonkers but seemed to relieve after a few others suggested it to me when I felt helpless during the teething days!!
