Water wipes vs Huggies Pure wipes

We've been using Huggies pure wipes since DD was born after not liking the residue Pampers left on her skin. Because of her sensitive skin we use the wipes then go over with cotton wool and water. She's 22 months and I'm thinking it would be easier to find a different wipe and not have to use the cotton wool (childminder doesn't do a very good job with it with poo to be honest). I've seen the water wipes used by a few people and wondered how they compared with Huggies pure? Thank you for your help!

Could you try cheeky wipes? They are expensive at first but you get your money's worth after a while and are brilliant for getting poo off as they're effectively flannels (lovely!), highly recommend!

Sorry, incase you don't know what they are they are reusable terry towel type squares that you soak in a water and essential oil (although oil you don't have to use could just use water I'm sure), easy to take our with you as you can get the kits which come with bags to put clean and dirties in when out and about

I would say cheeky wipes also, but she's almost potty training age surely, so a tad expensive If only used a few more weeks/ months

I would get some water wipes. We used them as newborns before changing to cheeky wipes.

Or just carry on using cotton wool and don't use any wipe first. Cotton wool wipes so you don't need to use wipe and cotton wool

I use water wipes but once baby is bigger I like boots sensitive own brand

Water wipes are brilliant - much 'wetter' than the other sorts and no smell.

I'm due with number 2 in June so yes she's hopefully on the way to being potty trained (she disagrees...!) but there's another to prepare for. Whilst I think cheeky wipes would be OK for me I don't think the childminder would do it properly (might just me being negative). I have to use wipes then cotton wool because her poos are massive and sloppy still. If I just used cotton wool I'd be taking 20 minutes a nappy change! I was thinking if I did use water wipes or cheeky wipes then I wouldn't also have to use cotton wool and water. Basically it's that which is the problem for the CM. She just uses cotton wool and water and so my DD is not always properly clean. I hoped to find an easy to use solution with a wipe which didn't aggravate my DD's bottom which the CM could use instead of cotton wool. I have told the CM I use the wipes then cotton wool at the end but she just uses cotton wool. I give her a flannel to dry my DD's bottom before the Bephathen goes on and each evening it comes back sodden so how it can be drying her I don't know! And I'm not convinced she uses cream at every change either despite me telling her to. Yes I can see from this the problem is the CM but it's genuinely the only issue I have with her care of DD so I'd rather find a solution than a new CM!

We used a set of 10 flannels from ikea and plain water. Got a couple of bags for roughly £1, then just chucked them in the wash. Wipes for out and about!

Cheeky wipes are much much more effective than any other wipe, plus gentle on skin and you don't need to do it with cotton wool afterwards either.

I'm not sure why you think your CM wouldn't use them. It's basically the same as cotton wool just you wash them afterwards. Our cm and nursery use them for us. Just get her to chuck them in a bag for you.

I know reusables aren't for everyone but honestly, if it's better for her skin I don't see the concern.

The CM does such a poor job with the cotton wool I can't see her doing any better with cheeky wipes. It needs to be ultra convenient for her to do a better job so my concern is that if I make a change but not to something more convenient there won't be any improvement in my DD's bottom hygiene. I had to show the doctor the otherweek as sshe's had a rash for a few weeks. I said she'd been at the CM's so wasn't sure what I'd find & sure enough there were poo remnants when I had to part her lips

Poor wee soul. I use water wipes and like them. I get them on Amazon with subscribe and save so that makes them quite a bit cheaper

Worrying re: the childminder. Surely changing nappies and cleaning properly is a pretty fundamental part of her job. Does she have any explanation for why this isn't happening?

Have you tried attempting toilet training at home already? If she's nappy free for at least a few hours a day it might really help with rash. Get some 100% cotton pants for her and just let her play at home in just pants on bottom half the next few weeks. Take to toilet every 30 mins. Even if it's just the few hours after childminder or first thing in the week

Ds2 had nappy rash a bit when newborn and it only went when we laid him on just a towel with face cloth over him each day for an hour or two so the air properly got to him

Toilet training attempted but she's at the defiant age so will only sit on it when she feels like it. Has also started telling lies about whether she has done a poo or not (says has but hasn't also says hasn't but has) so we're backing off for the time being. I like the idea of playing at home in just cotton pants on the bottom half so will look for some which will appeal to her.

Nappy changing is fundamental but I suspect it's eye sight related as my MIL is similar. I have mentioned it in her diary & it gets better then back to 'normal'. I'm thinking if I can find something easier than cotton wool & water it leaves less room for eye sight error or being in a rush.

I think I'll try water wipes & if they irritate her I'll invest in cheeky wipes.

Send water wipes to the CM and get cheeky wipes for you. My 21 month old is still doing sloppy poos and 1-2 cheeky wipes gets off all of the most terrible of poos. I have an 8 month old I'm using them on too.
