While waiting for her brother to return from an away match yesterday dd managed to drop her Teddy Comforter which a friend gave her when she was born and who has slept with her every night since and been everywhere. He was pretty tatty but even so much loved and repaired over the years. She seems to have taken it well considering - we had a new standby but obviously 5 years of love and wear makes a differnence. We've scoured the school grounds, asked at the offices and put a note in the newsletter. When is it likely to hit her that he may be gone for good , is this the lull before the storm ?

i don't know if this might work - my daughter lost all her dummies and i told her the fairies had taken them away to give to a new baby girl who really needed them. She loved this idea, told everyone she met, and never asked for a dummy again. I think, you have a pint, as parents we are more worried than they are about these things.

point i am hoping you won't need a pint!

it may not hit her at all, my ds is 4.5 and has a blanky, I got a bit panicky about losing it and he ended up with loads all the same, we are down to two now and he says when the new baby comes he will pass his blanky on, doubt very much this will happen, but he only uses it for bed now and i dont miss seeing it trapsing behind him everywhere we go!

I hope it turns up though!

For anyone interested, a happy ending - Teddy came back! ds made a flier to show his class and which got put up at school. I emailled the parents of his year group who would also have been waiting for the coach . A child in a differnent class recognised it sat on his teacher's desk a few days later and handed him back.
