Hi all,my son is 3 and has epispadias which is a congenital deformity of the penis.this has been corrected in the best way poss.In Jan the consultant told us he may have continence probs or he may not and to try and potty train him and come back next Jan.I've been trying to train him all week he knows when he needs to go and can sometimes do really big wees but he won't go unless I ask him. Also his pants are damp a lot of the time and he doesn't seem to be able to go for longer than 15 mins without at least a dribble. Is this normal at the beginning of potty training or should he have better control at his age?Hope you can help thanks.

My ds is 4 and never gets to the loo in time. He still needs reminding and on the rare occasions he goes by himself, there's always a dribble at least. Interestingly though he's also got a bit of a problem with his penis - very tight foreskin so his wee willy almost looks like it's about to explode when he wees and loads of balanitis when he was younger. I hadn't thought there might be a connection - you;ve got me thinking now - although I realise you ds' problem is not the same.

But anyway - I think dribbles are pretty normal for this age. And I think you having to ask him to go is normal too. He'll get the hang of it!
