I am hating my course!

I just wanted to put down on (virtual) paper how much I am hating my AS Level Human Biology course. It's boring and fast and no fun and I don't know why the hell I'm doing it. Thankyou for allowing me that short outburst, normal service will resume shortly.

Is it too late to change, or do you need it specifically for some purpose?

Worst case scenario, t's only X hours a week for a short time and then you never have to do it again- you need to balance up whch is worse, that or not having the certificate.

Well, the theory is that I did so well at the GCSE last year (got an A) I should continue with Human Biology so that it will help me get a decent job. Have been a SAHM with crappy part time jobs for the past 13 years. I would like to get into radiography but it just all seems too distant. You are right about it being for a short time, but I don't know if I am up to it, self doubt creeps in again! Anyway, thanks for listening.

Oh swnd

don't give up!! Just when you think you can't do it anymore, think about it.... you know you can

I am like peachy, in my 2nd of a 3yr degree course, loving it so far... but looking for the light at the end of the tunnel also

How are you studying, and where (FE college, night school?) that you aren't enjoying it. It should be a good course. Perhaps subsequent topics will be more interesting. WHat are you doing ATM?

(Nosy biology teacher!)

acnebrideofFrankenstein · 12/10/2006 23:59

hey, another human biology student! Have to say I;m quite enjoying it but have failed it twice in the past

I hate all the chemical bits but having started in June (distance learning) I'm now into the heart and stuff which is a lot more fun.

i quite like the www.advancedbiology.co.uk forum but there's not much on it yet

what board are you doing? I'm with Edexcel?

shewhoneverdusts · 13/10/2006 08:08

Hiya
I'm doing the AQA board, it's the same one as I did the GCSE with last year.
I'm doing it as an asult learner at Totton College for 2 and a half hours a week which is cramming in it somewhat, especially as the tutor has told us the daytime students do 5 hours a week to do the same course!
We have done cell substructure, which is ok, but I just cannot get the functions of all the organelles to stay in my head. then this week we did diffusion and osmosis and water potential (what the hell is that all about!!!). It just seems to my dim little brain that there is a huge difference between GCSE and A Level, and that there needs to be something in between IYSWIM! We also get a 5 minute break at around 8pm which isnt even long enough to reach the toilets let alone grab a coffee and if you are not back in 5 she starts without you and doesn't give any of what she has covered to you. I know I shouldn't be late, and I sound like a 16 year old not a mature student, so please feel free to ignore my mutterings, I'm really quite a nice chilled lady but this seems to bring out the worst in me.
