Xmas presents for nursery staff

Not sure where to post this so apologies if it's a bit random being in here! I've bought 2 boxes of very nice chocolates for the room my DS is in. One small one and one large one. I had intended on giving the small one to his key worker and the larger one to the room as a thank you. Does this sound ok? I just thought as I was wrapping them that it might seem a bit stingy to give a smaller box to his key worker who's helped him settle so well into nursery. Or maybe I'm just totally overthinking this.....as usual!!! Any experienced parents out there who can point me in the right direction? Thanks!! Xx

Normally chocolates gp to a raffle and these are shared between the whole nursery. so everyone gets a box each..
But if wrapped individually then it will stay individual.

I would personally wrap the bigger box for key worker then give smaller box to room (for raffle)

I give a box of chocolates for room and a gift set ( boots £10 three for two) for key worker.

This year I have bought several bags of thorntons chocolate, intending to put the bags into a box and then everyone will get one. I don't buy anything specific for the key worker because it seems to change a fair bit and they are not there all the days my son is.

However a couple of the mums have organised a collection each year, where all the parents donate some cash towards the nursery staff Christmas do anonymously. So people any what they can afford and then the staff get a fairly large wad of money to pay for a decent night out.

DS is in a small nursery, and there are mainly two women in his room, I'd planned to buy them both the same - a pair of falke slipper socks - they both spend the day without shoes on, so I figured these might be useful at least. Should I get his keyworker something else?

If it's a gift to share amongst staff, make up a tea /coffee /sugar / biscuits hamper, honest, the staff room will LOVE you for it!!

Go to some where like Home bargains orB&M as you can get branded stuff really cheap, like yorkshire tea, foxes biscuits etc

I send in a couple of boxes of M&S biscuits for the staff room. dd2's keyworker is lovely, but she seems to get as much care and attention from the other staff in the room, so I prefer to get something for all to share.

I find this present giving difficult. I appreciate them so much and I'd love to give them all a gift but there are so many of them.

This year I bought heaps of (nice but not overly expensive) christmas decorations and gave I to each person and a box of chocolate for each room.

It felt tokenistic to me which is a shame because they are so important in my dcs lives. I'd much prefer a collection as fanjo did.

I've just eaten the box of chocolates I bought for the nursery ladies, they will instead get a much nicer box from my Thorntons delivery! Dd has a key worker but everyone seems very involved so I thought a big box to share would be best?

It's hard isn't it to know what's the right thing to do. DS's key worker has been brilliant with him so I feel like this year I should recognise this with a separate gift. I might not do it in future years but she's really helped him settle. Still debating over who gets the big box and who gets the small box though!

I've already bought the chocs so they're there for the giving....unless I secretly scoff the small box myself!

Must not do that - have dress to fit into on Xmas day that's already a teeny bit tight (Bridget Jones style) xx

Big box to key worker

My DD's key worker is nice but dd is probably closer to a couple of the others. Not sure what to do - do I only recognise the key worker or pick out a few others too or just buy something for the room and ignore key worker??? Help!

Don't ignore the keyworker.. That's not nice

Any suggestions if your DH does all the nursery contact and doesn't know who DD's keyworker is

I want to thank her keyworker as DD is so happy at nursery but DH isn't helping me figure out what to do re who to give presents to...

Phone the nursery and ask?

I tried. I sort of got an answer. Maybe I should be more direct with my question, but I'm embarrassed that I don't know, so I waffled. Sigh.

I used to work in a nursery and we got so many chocolates they were coming out of our ears! The best gifts I got were smellies/ bath stuff (appreciated when you deal a lot with poo!) Or wine... or maybe something charity but relevant to kids, like an immunisation?

I've made up a box of small treats - hot choc sachets, posh tea bags, lip balms, etc. Didn't cost too much and the can share out or use in the staff room. Given l'occitaine hand cream to the two key workers. Three cards, a general one and one to each key worker

Hand cream is excellent, all that hand washing results in very dry hands.
