1 year old switching to cows milk, need some advice

before I start I must admit I overthink just about everything!
Hi, I have a 1 year old who is currently on 3 bottles of 6/7 oz formula a day. She eats well and has snacks etc. She loves her bottle. I tried last week to give afternoon milk in a sippy cup and she refused so took it in bottle. She drinks water fine from sippy cup.
Anyhow, what I want to know is, where do I go from here? I know I am supposed to give cows milk now too.
Anyone care to advise on what they did? I don't have family im able to ask, friends all have older kids and can't remember and I lost faith in the HV. Thanks x

I bet you haven't moved slower than us! We still have teat 2 at 12 months. I do try console myself that she's happy and healthy so try not to worry about the other bits.

Ds is 11 months 2 weeks now and we've got about 3/4 tub of formula and 8 cartons left. I think I'm just going to give him a bottle of cows milk and see how we get on. Might do morning bottle first then night bottle after a few days. DS has never been at all fussy with regard to milk, we mix fed so he had boob, ebm, powder f, carton f, warm, cold and room temp so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll be ok.
Sorry to hi jack your thread but are you still sterilising when you switch? A few friends have just started giving cows milk and have coincided it with stopping sterilising.
Still on fast flow teats here. Started to think about giving up bottles but his sleep has only just improved from a terrible period of night waking so I'm definitely going to kick that into the long grass for nowBlush

Interesting, when I stop formula I plan to stop sterilising as I beleive the main purpose to sterilise is because of the certain bacteria in powdered formula so when she has cows milk fully I will stop the sterilising.

We switched to size 3 at about 7 months as she was fussing with the bottle and not drinking much at each feed. As soon as I swapped she went back to drinking a full bottle.

I also stopped sterilising when we switched to cows milk for the same reasons you've outlined.

I stopped sterilising at about 7 months, but I have always used boiling water to make up a feed (i think my reasoning was that the boiled water killed the bacteria in the milk, and by this point she would chew anything she could grab off the floor and didn't die)
I never stored feeds in the fridge.

I used to make up a 10oz feed like so- pour the 10 scoops of formula in, fill up to 5oz mark with boiling water and swish around to mix and to kill germs, top up with 5 oz cold water (straight from tap) and bottle would be just about the right temp for dd.

From what I could gather with the aid of google, very few countries apart from the uk sterilise at all.

So far so good with milk today, I gave her 2 bottles of half and half. Did try again to give her milk in beaker but it was spat out

Sorry, slow to answer, but I've found warming the cow's milk helpful (not mixing it with formula, just warming in a saucepan - we don't have a microwave - and giving it in a sippy cup). Warm must be a bit more like breast milk or formula?
