Travel in taxi with newborn?

Hi - has anyone got any advice re getting a cab with a 2 month old? We need to get a cab on Xmas day and I'm attempting to plan ahead... Do you get in with babe in arms in back seat, or do you take them in the car seat? I know the don't have to be in a car seat in taxi legally, but, how do you do it? Any advice welcome, thanks!

Take them in a carseat. Legal or not, it doesnt change the fact that they are safe in a carseat and unsafe when not in one.

Especially as it is t an emergency and you are planning this journey - use the carseat.

Hi - is it safe though if the cab doesn't have isofix base? Has anyone taken their own car seat in taxi, or do you ask taxi firm for car with baby seat?

A taxi is still a car and the normal rules of physics apply in case of an accident.

In the past I have taken my own carseat and fized it with seatbelt. So long as you know how to fit it correctly with a seatbelt then it is perfectly safe.

Ah, they have the bases? Ok, will ring round some firms - just wanted to make sure that's how other ppl doing it

If its a maxi cosi you should be able to fit with seat belt

a car seat that fixes with the seat belt is easiest i think. most isofix also fit with the belt, look it up in the manual and try it in your own car with the belt so you're confident doing it.

Just fit it with the seatbelt. A correctly fitted belted seat is equally as safe as a correctly fitted isofix fitted seat. Yhe isofix removes the room for error, rather than making that seat safer (if both are fitted correctly).
