Leaving baby with someone else when they feed to sleep

DD is almost 5mo and I haven't left her yet, bar one night when I had to go to hospital (which by all accounts was horrendous for DH.) Anyway she drinks EBM now, which is great, but in general she breastfeeds to sleep. Only occasionally will she nod off in the sling or buggy. I'm leaving her with DH tomorrow afternoon, I just need some reassurance that she'll be ok I think.

You might find if you are not there she will go to sleep some other way if she is tired enough. Or worst case scenario she doesn't sleep and gets a bit tired and grumpy - not the end of the world. An afternoon is likely to be much easier than bedtime I think.
If you haven't left her at all then I'm sure you need some time to yourself (I definitely did!) so go for it - your husband will find his own ways of looking after her and it will be good for them to have some time on their own together.

Are you leaving expressed milk? I have this issue with DS (same age as yours) and I have gone out of an evening and DP has done the last feed with expressed milk and it was fine, DS went down fine.

I haven't tried it during the day though and we do struggle with daytime naps but I would hope he'd fall asleep with a bottle of expressed milk. Failing that could your DP walk him around in the pram or take him out in the car?

I'd try sling as a first option - nearest to milk in terms of cuddliness plus the movement helps and screaming isn't as loud outside. As long as your DH has a vague idea how to use it safely, if he's not used it before.

I've expressed four 3oz bags, will that be enough? eminy its good to hear your DS managed to sleep, DD is like me and doesn't do well with being tired, though goodness knows she fights sleep hard enough! imeg I'm only going to get my hair done and maybe potter around the shops briefly but I'm really looking forward to it. Just need to resist the temptation to micromanage from a distance :)

I would think 12oz would be fine.
When I have fed DS expressed milk he would usually have about 4oz per feed so if you're only going for a few hours that'll be fine.

My DS is 8 months old and BFs to sleep.

This Friday night I'm going out to a Christmas Party (the first time I've been out since he was born) and DH will be doing bedtime.

Me and DH are very nervous at the prospect and I just can see how DH will get him to sleep.

Fuuuuck. DH says it didn't go well :( She drank almost all the expressed milk, but didn't sleep, and got horribly upset. She did that awful fake gagging thing, she was crying so much.

When I came home she gave me a massive smile, chugged on the boob for about 3 seconds, and conked out on my lap in an exhausted heap. Poor wee thing.

Oh no what a shame it didn't go to plan. I would persevere though, it must get easier. Get your DH to practice rocking her to sleep.

My baby was fed to sleep until 10 months. Except for when ANYONE else put him to sleep. Now I don't breastfeed any more, he still goes to sleep for anyone else, but not at all for me.

I don't know how everyone else (nursery, husband, my mother) manage it. He's 13 months but plays me up no end.

But really, you would be surprised how different they can be away from their mothers.

(after a few days, was hard for everyone to find out a way that worked for them, but my LO adjusted so quickly, was a bit scary how easily he adjusted to not having me around 24/7)

I worried about this and one day my mum was rocking dd with me there and she fell asleep! Without the smell of milk she reacted purely to the comfort of a familiar adult!

A weight off my mind! Since then dh has put her to bed a couple of times perfectly well.
