Best place to buy school shoes?

DP picked up DSS this evening and he's in his school uniform. His school shoes are absolutely wrecked so we're going to take him shopping tomorrow for some new ones. Where's the best place to buy some relatively cheap but sturdy shoes? By that I mean we can't really afford Clarks but want ones that'll last, at least longer than a few weeks. Last pair his Mum bought from peacocks but he's only had them a few weeks and they're trashed so don't want to buy them from there again.

I always take DD to Charles Clinkard or Clarks. She has narrow feet and wears insoles so I can't get away with off the shelf shoes in supermarkets because they don't fit her. She is 14 and manages to get a year's wear out of shoes, so cost per wear is very good value.

Bun wow a year is good! This will be his third pair already this year!might be worth us considering Clarks. Can't believe a 5 yr old can wreck shoes so quickly!

I think the difference is that DD is a girl and is 14 so her feet aren't growing anymore.

You get what you pay for with school shoes.

A Ricosta pair at £60 will last a year (and weirdly grow with your child, so it seems

Clarks/Startrite will cost nearly £40 and last one/two terms. (Startrite seem to last slightly longer than Clarks)

M&S will cost £20 and last one term.

And peacocks/Tesco will cost even less and last a few weeks.

Can you get to a Clark's outlet? I always get ours from Clark's as a pp said you get what you pay for as dh has learnt this yr. I let him buy dd a cheap pair from a supermarket and they didn't last 2 wks. Imo it's worth spending a bit more for shoes that fit properly as they wear them more than anything else and while there feet are still growing that's important

slightly not sure. I'll look into it tonight. Need to get some tomorrow as won't have time Sunday with church and we're going out afterwards. Mum bought the last two pairs so I think it's only fair we get them this time so definitely needs to be this weekend.

Agree....Ricosta or Petisil reduce cost per wear and only need replacing through growing out of them. They last a lot longer than clarks.

M&S school shoes are around £20 and last about a term. Clark's outlet shoes are a similar price. Supermarket school shoes are a false economy.
