my god two year old just done really dark green/black poo.....

what could this mean. It almost looked like the type of poo you would have from taking iron tablets. The only thing i could think of is that he has had some birthday cake today and the icing on it was blue and black could this make his poo a funny colour. It was quite alot and messy but would say it was firmish.It just looked dark green/black.

at a guess id say yes, the food colouring.i wouldnt worry too much, just keep an eye on it and if it keeps happening get it checked out or if he starts moaning of pains etc.

my kids go from brown,dark brown,grey and greeny sometimes.it depends on what they eat.

someone else might know more but i wouldnt panic, especially if it was only the once.see what happens tomorrow.

But seriously, as MaLi says, wait and see what tomorrow brings and then act accordingly. My 3yo DS still does a bizarre array of poos, often for no apparent reason!
