Well there had to be one...
Thought I might as well start it at Fennels suggestion.
You have all read enough from me how about you?

I use white sugar - but it doesn't seem to be helping to be honest. We tried orange juice but that didn't work either. He just seems to need to poo every few days - that'd be OK but he seems to be in a bit of pain when he poos - bright red face and little tears in his eyes and some crying - poor little thing...

Anyway, am feeling quite proud 'cos both babies in bed and asleep by 7pm and I'm on my own..! Am now too tired to make myself any tea though - will probably have corn flakes!!

hewlettsdaughter · 07/07/2004 23:41

Well done dot! I tried to put dd down just now but she wasn't having any of it - she's asleep against my shoulder now. Hope you're not worrying too much about ds' weight - after all, it doesn't sound as if the hv was too worried. DD seems a bit off at present - poss a cold (I have one).
Cornflakes are always on standby in this house

dot1 · 08/07/2004 00:06

Mmmm - had rice krispies for tea..! We're all coming down with colds aswell - this is of course because we're off on holiday tomorrow... Only North Wales (which has a lightning bolt over it tomorrow according to the weather forecast!), and in a caravan (Aarrgghhh!!) but I'm soooooooo excited!!! Can't wait - a change is as good as a rest??!

hewlettsdaughter · 08/07/2004 00:31

Am now just off for a bowl of cornflakes

dolbear · 08/07/2004 21:38

mm , how did mums cope before ready made sandwiches from tescos i will never know putting gripe water in the water bottle helped ds alot like u went every few days and in pain , now practicaly every morning !
7pm wow that is good 9.30 at the ealriest in this house

Metrobaby · 08/07/2004 21:57

if we are lucky ds will go to sleep at 7 ish but tbh it varies every day. Yesterday ds only managed to go down at 10.45pm - but I wasn't too bothered as dh had him for the evening whilst I went out

Metrobaby · 08/07/2004 21:58

i forgot to ask, has anyone's ds/dd got cradle cap? Ds has and i keep putting olive oil on but I'm not sure if it is helping or not. Finding it v tempting to pick it off his head whilst feeding

dolbear · 09/07/2004 18:34

o cradle cap as such , but he does get dry scabby skin on his face sometime , that j & j spay stuff for after the bath seems to do the trick for u s, also ds loves the spray action !!

Chuffed · 10/07/2004 13:33

Metrobaby dd had this and we have now got rid of it. Get a soft toothbrush and brush backwards on the scalp to sort of lift up the flaky bits then rub in aqeous cream. It looks really funny, leave on for an hour and then when you give a bath wash the hair. It is a lot easier to control than olive oil and one wash seems to get rid of the cream.
A couple of sessions of doing this and it was gone. Isn't it tempting to pick it though...

Fennel · 10/07/2004 15:48

I don't think dd3 has fallen asleep in her cot more than once ever. she usually goes to sleep in someone's arms or in car seat or swing and then we move her into her carrycot later. I get bored of trying to settle them down. In fact dd1 and dd2 usually go to sleep in dd3s cot and carrycot rather than their own beds so we have to switch them all round when they're asleep.

mrs d I am not green but could be described as bulbous . in fact if I were to be a vegetable suspect I look at present like a squishy old saggy potato .

dd3 still very hungry and feeding lots in the daytime. I feel I'm not producing enough milk either (but I am eating constantly so I must be). Dot I am fantasising about being ordered to eat more chocolate! isn't it outrageous that we feel guilty for giving up bf and also guilty for bf if they don't put on weight fast?

MrsDoolittle · 11/07/2004 01:19

Fennel - How did your camping trip go? You may not be green but if you saw me now you would definately think I was red. I am a redhead anyway and I got wind burned on Saturday so i have a red face too

My dd is asleep in her crib. I think I should count myself lucky that I can feed her at 7pm and put her in her crib and she will go to sleep herself. She has done that for a couple of weeks now. It's amazing how different she is.
We went to see my best friend last week she has just had a baby boy and I couldn't believe how small he was. He was bigger than dd when she was born! He was also crying all the time - I remember the days....... However she is dealing with it completely differently to me. She puts him upstairs and lets him cry saying he has to learn to go to sleep himeself. She thinks I am too romantic about babies.
I don't know what I would have done without this thread to whine on I have tried suggesting Mumsnet to her but she was having none of it. Said she is on the computer all day at work and doesn't want a bar of it at home.
Oh well, horses for courses.....

I wonder if I am odd? I never experienced this hunger you all speak of when breast feeding nor do I get thirsty. infact it would be better if I did get thirsty because I just get awful headaches instead because I don't drink enough.

The little cherub is having her second set of jabs on Wednesday She hasn't been weighed since her last set, so we shall see. She certainly feels heavier, although she is not quite out of her 0-3months sleepsuits and there are still alot of 0-3months clothes that are still too big for her. Apart from the bottom half, which is well out of proportion because of her cute totsbots nappies

Anyway peeps, that's enough banter from me. I shall bid you all good evening. I am off to addle my brain even further and watch Big Brother!

OP posts:
dolbear · 11/07/2004 19:47

ds is also going for second set of jabs on wed !!
I hate it ! , feel sooo bad ! dh had to go with me last time to hold my hand !!
he is out of all 0-3 mths now , aprt from asda and boots clothes , must make then extra big ! also not been weighed since last tme , but I am having to go to gp on thurs due to v bad back pain on left from carrying him 14lb at 8 wks cannot sleep and the good old nurofen is no longer working ,

Fennel · 12/07/2004 12:20

MRs D - the camping was good thanks, but going away at present still seems like more effort than it's worth even though we used to live for holidays. is everyone going away this summer? we have 2 weeks in scotland (camping and cottaging) but not sure if it'll be relaxing.

I am having an "I can't cope" day. how's everyone else doing? Babe is ok, it's the combination of all 3 that gets too much.

metrobaby - there are lots of april babies not sleeping through the night, they are congregating on another thread "bf and sleeping through".

hewlettsdaughter · 12/07/2004 16:12

I just posted on that thread Fennel . DD sleeps 6/7 hours at a stretch but still doesn't go to bed before I do (she will sleep on me or DH in the evening though). I tried taking her up at 7 pm the other day - it took until 8.30 pm to settle her. Not sure which is better really - a baby-free evening (but then a probable night feed) or baby with you in the evening, a feed at bedtime, then a decent stretch of sleep.

hewlettsdaughter · 12/07/2004 16:15

I have just bought 'the no-cry sleep solution' by Elizabeth Pantley, by the way - anyone else got this?

Chuffed · 12/07/2004 18:15

A friend has recommended it to me but I never did get it out of the library. Let us know how it goes.

MrsDoolittle · 12/07/2004 19:17

HD - your dd is 8 days younger than mine and I was going through the same sleeping dilemma as you two weeks ago.

We have just come back from baby clinic and the little cherub has slowed down the rate at which she is putting on weight. She is now 10lb 10oz. Hv says its because she is sleeping through the night now she is missing a feed during the night. This should sort itself out in a couple of weeks. I hope this has nothing to do with the fact I give her water sometimes - what do you think?

I am sorry I didn't mean sound like I was gloating because dd is sleeping better. I hope you didn't think I was. I guess I use this thread a little like a diary and I have been logging things as they happen. Must have been watching too much Big Brother!

Hi everyone. Is it pouring with rain and really windy where you are too?! My ds is no longer sleeping through the night. He's up at 3am/4am demanding a bottle and really glugging it down completely starving poor thing! I just keep telling myself that it's not as bad as every 2 hours like at the beginning and what is maternity leave for if not to get up in the night? (but have no idea how i'll cope come September when back at work!). Also he is pooing a lot more, really smelly and green. He seems fine apart from that, no extra crying or anything. Anyone else had this?

hewlettsdaughter · 12/07/2004 19:54

MrsD, i didn't think you were gloating. I am slightly envious of your baby-free evening though (but as I said, if I managed to get dd asleep in her carrycot early then I would probably end up feeding at some ungodly hour...). I have bought the Pantley book for interest, rather than because the sleep thing is particularly worrying me at the moment.
Lucy - my understanding is that green poo can sometimes mean too much foremilk but it also might not mean anything - maybe your ds is just going through a growth spurt or something?

Fennel · 12/07/2004 20:12

Mrs D - do I gather your baby is no longer Unputdownable? it seems no time since you were posting about that.

I'd vote for a later bedtime and no early morning rising myself. but I don't really mind cuddling dd3 all evening - think I am having Last Baby Syndrome and can't bear for her to grow up! I wasn't like this with the others but I know this is the last time I'm doing this.

Lucyjones - it's sunny here! (for once)

MrsDoolittle · 13/07/2004 11:38

I think I've got First Baby Syndrome and I can't stop cuddling her all day. I am also absolutely convinced that she is the most beautiful baby EVER and no other babies compare
How do you prepare your baby for nursery Fennel? I am over half way through my maternity leave and I am beginning to feel sad

Following her injections the hv said she will either be fine, she will be grumpy or she will just sleep. Well dd has just slept. I put her down at 8pm and I had to pick her up at 7 before she cried this morning to feed her because I was leaking like Daisy the cow! Now she has gone back to sleep. Had the hv not said this to me yesterday I think I might worry!

OP posts:
Fennel · 13/07/2004 16:08

mrs d - my dd3 is stunning! apart from her unfortunate habit of posseting over her admirers. wish I could post a picture to prove her unusual beauty

is your dd going to nursery full time in sept? do they do an induction process? ours has 2 weeks of going every day and waiting in lobby while baby "settles". but this time it's easy for me as dd3 is going to nursery with her big sister dd2 so it's not very scary for us. don't really feel ready to let her go but it's still 2 months til she goes. I am going back sooner, in 2 weeks, but only 2 days a week over the summer while DP looks after the sprogs.

Metrobaby · 13/07/2004 22:31

dolbear hope your back gets better soon. It must be awful.

Ican't stop cuddling my ds either. I think I'm having Last baby Syndrome like you Fennel in that I know he will be my last little 'un

dolbear · 13/07/2004 23:09
