Cake Speech

Does anyone do a speech at dc birthdays when you get the cake out?

I don't, our family never have, but friends do and I wondered how popular it was to do it.

Organising a joint party with good friends who do speeches and am trying to strike a balance (plus am so so bad at public speaking this is making me quake - introvert alert, worrying already)

Can I get away with not?

Definitely no birthday speeches in our house.

We're a family of introverts & would all hate it if anyone made a speech when the cake came out. We haven't even done it at 'big' birthdays.

If there has to be a speech, could you perhaps get your friends to say a few words on behalf of you both?

Yes, possibly. Thanks for the reply, don't feel so odd now!
