Wasn't it just- I'm shocked.
I got the 15th, 20th or 22nd of Jan.

I went for the 15th.
I'm nervous, excited and everything.

Going to get my current essays out of the way this weekend so I can focus on my maths and interview Grin

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 26/11/2014 16:39

Oh you will be on the same one as my friend. Well, friend of a friend, shes a but older than me but she's lovely, her name is Ali.

Ive been revising the maths test, the only one an cant get my head round now is the decimal point number decided by a decimal point number.

All the rest Ive cracked. I was really rusty!!

Blimey I can't do any of it- I've got lots of ks2, ks3 and key skills maths books

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 26/11/2014 18:37

At a glance it looks alright doesn't it, then you look closer and you think eeek!

I got 'basic maths for dummies' which gave me an excellent fool proof way of timing large numbers. Or double figure numbers anyway, 64 X 77 for example. I could never do that in my head.

I was also worried that I wouldn't answer all the questions in the allotted time scale, its 15 minutes to answer 20 questions thats less than 10 seconds a question!

Ive also planned out essays, Ive heard that they can ask you about your journey to the interview that day (how do you form an argument there?!) a recent book you have read or a current issue in the NHS, which are all really bloody different from one another!

Had an interview today for midwifery and I was too nervous I think I completely lost it. Competing is so fierce as well, there was about 30 people there.

Oh well roll on the next.

Well done for your interview at Brighton, that was so quick. I really wanted to apply there as I'm hoping for a move there soon but may not happen.

ChuckNovice · 26/11/2014 18:39

Should say competition.

MikeTheShite · 26/11/2014 19:06

I'm sure you did great Chuck, I'll keep everything crossed.

I'm going to get the train that day so I can revise more lol Smile

MikeTheShite · 26/11/2014 20:22

Can any of you recommend me a nursing book to prepare me for interview

Bessiebigpants · 26/11/2014 20:42

Blimey, this is not helpful at all but when did it get so complicated.ive been qualified almost 20 years Here's what I did - saw an advert in my local paper for Project 2000 thought to myself hmm that sound a bit better than this(working in my local chinese takeaway) sent off got an application form filled it in got short listed took a bus to Swansea 50 odd miles away found my way to the hospital stunned to discover 100 applicants in a room.Had what felt like an informal chat with some nice ladies got the bus to the city centre bought a bikini and went home.(I should mention Iwas about 17 years old) Was a nice day out really offered a place left home moved to a nurses home and here I am 20 years later having done all kinds of paeds work I don t always love myjob but as careers go its been interesting and I've never not had work. Health promotion and early intervention are key issues in this cost orientated nhs along side reflection and emotional intelligence and containment.have a look at those for your interview.if you are interested in child branch we are mega obsessed with obesity and there is a big push for nursing children at home.

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 26/11/2014 21:13

My mum did similar when she was 17. She chose nursing because she knew it meant she could go to the nurses home and leave her parents, she had a very bad upbringing.

Mike I don't know but I subscribed to nursing times which is brilliant.

4 more nights of revision and thats it!

Hope Ive done enough!

I just really bloody hope they ask me to do an essay on something to do with nursing/the NHS because I could do that no problem with quotes and references galore.

But an essay on my journey to the interview that day and Id be screwed. Hmm

I'm so worried about the maths Smile

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 29/11/2014 17:20

Dont worry, Ive been there, worried, pulled my hair out, sweated, figured it out and got over the hurdle.

I can be your short cut, I can help you out.

MikeTheShite · 01/12/2014 13:08

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 01/12/2014 17:42

I'll be asking what to expect and keeping everything crossed!
It's brighton isn't it for sept enrolment x

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 01/12/2014 18:47

September 2015 or feb 2016. They split the intakes into two. I will have to take feb because it falls along side school holidays.

Talking of questions, what questions should I ask them??

OP posts:
MikeTheShite · 01/12/2014 19:49

I've been wondering that too!

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 01/12/2014 20:17

Well, you're no help! Grin

mike if to go into Brighton and Surrey, which one would you choose?

OP posts:
LumpenproletariatAndProud · 01/12/2014 20:40

I might have to post on chat because Ive thought of a couple but Im not sure they are any good.

OP posts:
LumpenproletariatAndProud · 01/12/2014 20:52

Also Ive just figured out the dividing a decimal point by a decimal point which means I can confidently answer all of the maths questions now, giving myself more room for mistakes yet still passing.

OP posts:
MikeTheShite · 02/12/2014 07:20

That's great Lump!!!

I'll go to brighton I think?

The only questions I can think of are ones regarding the support they have in place
